Progress by the end of 2003
Purnika Manahari (age 13) doing a presentation in English.
By the end of 2003, we have seen remarkable progress from this new Lak Daruwo center at Meegammena Rajamaha Vihara. According to the instructor and the head priest, the children are very motivated and use all the resources we provided in very creative ways. This was evident when they made a presentation during the Annual Presentations Event organized in our Lak Daruwo Embilipitiya center. With the guidance of Lak Daruwo implementation team, the senior group of children have used the computer and the internet to do research and have prepared the best presentation we have seen from all the Lak Daruwo centers in year 2003. The children's use of the English language and their presentations of the programs were highly satisfactory. Junior and middle groups of children showed their talents and the progress through several dramas, dances, and musical items. We, the Lak Daruwo, team is extremely happy about the progress achieved by these children during a short period of time. We believe that, with the proper guidance and help, these children will sharpen their abilities to help build the future Sri Lanka.
