Ven. Dr. Basnagoda Rahula Thera, director of Houston Buddhist Vihara and adjunct lecturer of English at the University of Houston-Downtown, provides syllabi and innovative teaching methods for our English classes and monitor English education of the children in Lak Daruwo project. By visiting rural areas of Sri Lanka, he also helps us select temples to establish English and computer classes for children.

Since the child-sponsorship program of Houston Buddhist Vihara and Lak Daruwo project work together to help children in Sri Lanka, Ven. Dr. Rahula Thera directly relates to the Lak Daruwo project as well. In fact, our pilot project at Attanagalla was initiated by providing English and computer education to the children under the child-sponsorship program organized by Ven. Rahula Thera. Most of the children in our Matale project also receive these scholarships. So, Ven. Rahula Thera directly communicates with our centers, children, and their parents.
