Sri Lanka, despite being independent for over 50 years, is still in chaos. Most of the people
are still poor, and the economy is very unstable. While the ongoing war has clearly aggravated
these problems, several other factors also have contributed to the current lamentable situation.
One main problem I see is that we do not have an efficient policy to train, guide, and monitor
the talents of Sri Lanka's young generation. In this background, most talented youths fail to
enter adulthood as responsible and dutiful citizens who can take the leadership to build the
country. If we focus on the children of Sri Lanka now at least, we can certainly make a
difference in the future for our motherland. Lak Daruwo Network, which focuses on educating
and guiding children, is our contribution to the future of Sri Lanka.

We need to focus mainly on children in rural villages since they are the most unfortunate among
all Sri Lankans. Many of these children are extremely talented but helpless. They need to be helped,
guided with promise and good values based on our culture and the realities of today's world. They
should be helped in such a way that their talents are exposed for the benefit of our country. For
decades, we have let these talents, which would have brought strength to our country, go wasted.
This pathetic situation should be changed. Lak Daruwo project is heading for a difference in that
direction. Children often listen well. They can be taught of good values and given strength and
guidance to exploit their talents, to make them become leaders and useful citizens of the future
of our country. So Lak Daruwo project will be investing on the future of Sri Lanka.

Obviously, our task ahead will not be a trouble-free journey. I know that failures and disappointments
will be lurking alone the way. Yet, no obstructions and difficulties will discourage us. Now is the
right time to start, and we will go on firmly with patience and determination. I know that many Sri
Lankans think in the same way, and I invite them to join us in our effort to invest in the future
of our country.
|
|
All Sri Lankans, who belong to different patriotic organizations, are the children of the same
motherland so that it is important to network Sri Lankans in order to maximize their strength.
By doing so, we all may help together the less-fortunate younger generation of the country.
With well-planned projects, a positive attitude, and a determined effort, we can help our country,
and, of course, it is our duty to do so.
