Last 14th of December we went to Sankhapala camp. One teacher and 12 students attended this camp from Attanagalla. We started our journey at 10.00a.m.We went to Ambilipitiya at 6.00 p.m. First we bathed and discussed what we had to do. Students came to this camp from three centers. We had three guides. They are Brad, Katie, and Luke. Every day we woke up at 4.30 a.m. Then we washed our face and observed Pancil. In the camp we played many Games, sports and did group activities. I enjoyed much at the camp. I think all children enjoyed like me. At the night we did entertainment activities around the camp fire. We had Dances; sang songs, mini dramas. We did things in a two Groups. Little star and challenger are our groups. And we built tower and bridge. Also we did presentations about our bridge and tower.

We enjoyed much and I improved my English knowledge. This is my first trip alone I lived three days without my parents. Before we did games one teacher explained about the game and how to do it. Sometimes we did not understand what he said. But teachers helped us. In the camp we couldn't speak Sinhala.

We did team work in harmony. Our camp will make very clever students. In the camp we met new friends. Some of our meals were prepared by students. Two mothers helped us to cook our meals. Everyday we bathed at 4.00 p.m. The day we came home they gave some presents to students.

I think all students enjoyed at the camp. This camp was very good. I will not forget this camp.

14th of December 2003 in the morning we prepared to go to"Sankhapala''. We started our journey at 10.00 a.m. We went to "Sankhapala'' at 6.00 p.m. First we bathed. The Sanjeewa sir introduced our team leaders named Kaite, Brad, and Luke. The following day we started our work. Firstly we woke up at 4.30.p.m.Our main programme was to observe pancil and "Bhavana programme'' .After religious activities we did physical exercises and games. Then we did some activities and went for bath in the evening. At the night we lit a camp fire and started the entertainment programme. We prepared two breakfasts to us. Three days we were there. On the final day our team leaders gave certificates to us.

This is my first time away from home without a parent. But I learned many things at this camp. I think it will be more valuable to our future than today. We worked in two groups named little star and challenger. I think teachers wanted to teach our harmony and working with others.

We learned Leadership from many activities. The most valuable thing is we talked in English there .Till we came back home most of our daily things we talked in English. I think it is a main thing we had from our English camp. Few children were clever in creations. We built a beautiful and strong Tower and a bridge. And we built a good friendship with the children from other centres.

This journey was the most Interesting journey to me and all others. We got mental satisfaction from it. It is most valuable to our future. This camp was Important and good experience to our life and I think others too feel so.

After that Sanjeewa sir explained to us about things what we had to do next . At about 10 p.m. we went to sleep. But I missed my parents a lot. I felt very lonely. The next day we woke up early morning at about 4.30 and we enjoyed the "Bhavana" program at 6 a.m. The Nayaka Thero of Sankhapala helped this programme. After that we met the three foreign friends. Luke, Brad and Katie. We all made good friends with them. Next we divided into two teams called Challenger and Little Star. Mine was Challenger .

It was the last day of our camp. I was very sad because we had to say good bye to my friends. We did sports and presentations and games a lot on the last day. Sanjeewa sir and Anuruddha sir came to meet us. And they selected the winners. The winner was the Challenger team. I was very happy because it was my team. We always tried to speak in English in this camp. We enjoyed ourselves a lot and we started to return home on 18th of December at about 1.p.m from Sankhapala Vihara. When we reached Attanagalla it was about 5.p.m. We saw our parents waiting for us at our temple. This was the first time in my life away from my parents. We had a camp at Sankhapala Viharaya in Ambilipitiya. It was held from 14th to 18th of December. I got much experience from that. There were many children like us. We were divided into two groups by our teachers. They were challenger and little star. We played many games. During this period we cooked our own three morning meals and we did our own work. From that I got much experience about our day to day lives.

We woke up at 4.30 a.m. Firstly we observed pansil. Next we attended sport activities. Then we took our breakfast prepared by students. It' was a lot of fun to us. Next time is we did different presentations. They are valuable to our education.

When we were playing we had to defeat and win. So we got experiences of victory and defeat. During that time we worked together. Sometimes we had to face some problems and we faced them successfully. From this great opportunity I could improve my English knowledge because we worked with foreigners students from other centers.

I think these programs are valuable for our lives. Because we can learn many new things. After the day's program we went to bathe in a river. In the afternoon we had a camp fire entertainment. It was full of much enjoyable activities. Our students presented different items at this meeting; one sinhala item and others were in English .There were songs, dramas, mimes and dancing items. The last day was very sad to us because we were to take leave from our friends. Finally, we came back to Attanagalla at 5.00 p.m.
