We will have many challenges getting these children ready to serve future Sri Lanka.
The schools in the area have minimal facilities. We also use a common temple facility
to hold classes and other activities. However, a new building is being constructed to
address this problem, and Lak Daruwo has plans to contribute partly to that effort
too. Also, we will focus and pay close attention to the English language program.
There is a plan to get volunteers from English speaking country like England or
Australia through another NGO, which supports us, to conduct long term resident
English programs. Helping to improve English language skills is our main short-term
goal for Embilipitiya center. There are various other issues that need to be
addressed, and we will formulate strategies to deal with those issues in the future.
In addition, we are trying to help children in Embilipitiya center with our recently
started Lak Daruwo scholarship program. Almost all these children in this center are
experiencing great financial difficulties. We would like to find sponsors to assist
these children financially so that they would support the children's educational needs.
