Lak Daruwo has recently started a "Pen Pal" program between children participates in our project
and the children of Sri Lankan expatriates in U.S. The main goal of this program is to promote communication
skills of Lak Daruwo children and to build relationships between Sri Lankan children brought up in
different cultures. Thid
program benefits both parties involved in many ways. For the children in Sri Lanka this opens up an
opportunity to learn English as well as learn about the world outside of Sri Lanka. It also cultivates
friendships between these kids so that they can build strong partnerships in the future.
These children in opposite side of the globe use e-mails to communicate with
each other. This also gives children involved an opportunity get familiar with
communication via internet. However, the Internet facilities are currently
available only for our Lak Daruwo Attanagalla Project.
We like to have more children of Sri Lanka expatriates around the globe
participate in this program. More participation is paramount for the success
of this program. Please let us know if your child is willing to make a talented
village kid of Sri Lanka, a Pen Pal.
